Açıklama: Hendrik Heinz
About the Speaker:
Hendrik Heinz is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Colorado - Boulder. He studied chemistry at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, and received his PhD degree from ETH Zurich in 2003. He then carried out postdoctoral work at the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio, and joined the faculty at the University of Akron, Ohio, from 2006 to 2015 before his present position at the University of Colorado. His research interests include the simulation of biological and nanostructured materials, metals, clay minerals, polymeric materials, and multiscale computational methods. He made contributions to the understanding of molecular recognition at inorganic surfaces, crystal growth, and catalysis on the nanometer scale. His team develops the INTERFACE molecular dynamics platform that enables simulations of inorganic-(bio)organic hybrid materials on the 1 to 1000 nm scale in high accuracy, including compatible force field parameters and surface models for a variety of inorganic compounds. Recent honors include the 2016 SandmeyerAward of the Swiss Chemical Society, a 2014 Guest Professorship at the National Institute for Materials Science (Japan), the 2013 Max Hey Medal of the Mineralogical Society, the 2011 George Brown Lectureship of the Mineralogical Society and a Guest Professorship at ETH Zurich, an NSF Career Award and a 2009 Giovanni Novelli Prize of the Italian Clay Group.

Imogolite and imogolite-like tubular nanocrystals. Formation mechanism, properties and applications.
Açıklama: Hendrik Heinz
About the Speaker:
Dr. Antoine THILL is a scientist at the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire sur l’Organisation Nanometrique et Supramoléculaire (LIONS) in the Department of Fundamental Research at the Commissariat de l’Energie Atomique (CEA) in Saclay (Paris-Saclay university). His present field of interest comprises the investigation of the synthesis, structure and dynamics of nanoparticles in complex systems using X-ray based scattering, spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. Lately, he has been particularly involved in several research programs on imogolite and imogolite-like nanomaterials during which he discovered the Double-Walled Germanium based imogolite nanotubes and made progress on the formation mechanism and properties of imogolite-like nanoparticles. He recently start pilot-scale production of such nanotubes. He is the co-editor of a book on nanotubular clay minerals and author of three chapters on imogolite.
